From the Overview dashboard, you can get a snapshot of the governance posture of your Microsoft 365 environment.

Specifically, to understand the data displayed and obtain relevant insights from the various widgets in this and other dashboards, it is useful to know what the score is and how it is calculated.

What is the score and how is it calculated?

Within the Health Check dashboards, you can review the score, which represents the percentage of policies that comply with their set thresholds out of all enabled policies with configured thresholds.

Keep in mind that this score considers both Out-of-the-Box and Custom policies.
In the image above, the score is calculated based on the 35 policies enabled: 43% of them are compliant with their set thresholds.

Next, you can view the top 5 areas of concern.

By "areas of concern" we mean categories. These are cross-playbook groupings that indicate the target of policies, for example, Teams groups, license optimization, users/admins/groups.

The widget displays:

  • The playbook, along with its compliant score. This shows the percentage of policies that comply with their set threshold for that specific category.
  • The label of the area of concern (or category).
  • The number of policies that require attention.

These are the areas where compliance is lacking or at risk.

The widget empowers you to prioritize your efforts and take the necessary actions to bring these policies into compliance.

Keep in mind that this score considers only Out-of-the-Box policies.

For example, 0% is the percentage of policy compliance for the Guests category in the Security & Identity management playbook. This is not the score for the overall Playbook!

Additionally, the Guests category is also present in the Teams management and License management playbooks.

Finally, you can see the score of every Out-of-the-Box playbook, with each percentage indicating the number of policies compliant out of all enabled policies within each specific playbook.

This feature enables you to identify which playbooks are performing well and which ones need more attention, so you can allocate your resources effectively.

Keep in mind that this score considers only Out-of-the-Box policies.
